In addition to lending books, music and games the libraries offer a wide range of activities and events for children and adults, including “baby library”, lectures, children’s theatre, reading for young children, exhibitions, instruction in IT and internet use, creative workshops and evenings with authors.

Theatre Vestvolden

Theatre Vestvolden offers great theatre experiences for families, children and young people. The performances, which take place both at the theatre in Hvidovre and on tour throughout Denmark, are often based on new Danish drama written especially for the theatre.

The theatre produces a new regional play every three years that involves up to 100 local participants, who are active on stage or behind the scenes. The theatre also regularly invites visitors to enjoy comedy, concerts and cabaret.

The museum has the largest collection of its kind in Scandinavia with thousands of photos and posters, beautiful costumes and props, circus programmes and news paper clippings.

The Circus Museum is situated in the former military camp, Avedørelejren.

The Suburb Museum (Forstadsmuseet) focuses primarily on the history and heritage of the Copenhagen suburbs and is not a museum in the traditional sense.

The museum reaches out to citizens through its trademark “History in the Street” recounting history right where it happened. This means you will encounter the museum in the streets, at lectures and events, at travelling exhibitions and in connection with local and municipal planning.

The museum is based in the former military camp, Avedørelejren.
